Abstract

Background: Iron deficiency anemia is a significant health problem among adolescent girls in East Nusa Tenggara. This condition can be caused by iron loss during menstruation and inadequate dietary iron intake. Iron supplementation tablets can serve as a solution to prevent anemia; however, knowledge regarding their proper use remains relatively low, highlighting the need for effective educational media.Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of education using digital media, namely leaflets, PowerPoint, and Google Sites, in improving the knowledge of female students at SMA Negeri 1 Kupang Timur regarding the use of iron supplementation tablets. Methods: This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental design with a group pretest-posttest approach. Respondents were selected using multistage sampling and randomly assigned to three intervention groups: leaflet, PowerPoint, and Google Sites. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon, Kruskal-Wallis, and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: The Google Sites group showed a significant increase in knowledge scores (p=0.002), with the highest mean increase of 2.30 points. Meanwhile, the leaflet (p=0.608) and PowerPoint (p=1.000) groups did not show statistically significant improvements in knowledge. The Kruskal-Wallis test demonstrated a significant difference in effectiveness among the three media (p=0.000). The Mann-Whitney test indicated that Google Sites was more effective than both leaflets and PowerPoint in improving knowledge regarding the use of iron supplementation tablets. Conclusion: Google Sites was the most effective educational medium for improving the knowledge of female students at SMA Negeri 1 Kupang Timur regarding the use of iron supplementation tablets compared with leaflets and PowerPoint
