Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis is a disease with a high transmission rate, particularly among family members of Tuberculosis cases with positive Acid-Fast Bacillus test results. Inflammation in the alveoli leads to the accumulation of sputum, which can disrupt breathing and oxygenation of the body, potentially causing permanent brain damage. Methods: This study uses a descriptive design and case study approach through family nursing care. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with 2 participants. The instruments used include SOP for Deep Breathing Relaxation and Effective Cough Techniques, and the creation of a Simple Sputum Container and Disinfectant Pot. The analysis technique used is WOD (Interview, Observation, and Documentation). Results: After implementing nursing care for both patients over three days, it was found that patients were able to perform and understand the Effective Cough Technique and did not dispose of sputum indiscriminately. Conclusion: Deep Breathing Relaxation and Effective Cough Techniques can address the nursing problem of ineffective airway clearance in patients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis in the working area of Kanatang Health Center.
