Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is still a problem in the world and developing countries, especially Indonesia, as seen from the high prevalence of hypertension. Hypertension is also at risk of causing various other diseases, such as heart failure, coronary heart disease, kidney disease and stroke, so that treatment must be done immediately before complications and other adverse consequences result in death. Data from the Waingapu Health Center noted that in 2022 there were 679 cases of hypertension. Family support at the Waingapu Health Center is due to a lack of supervision in the family because they are busy with work and assume that patients are able to meet their own needs. Objective: to identify what factors influence family support in primary prevention of hypertension in the Work Area of the Waingapu Public Health Center, East Sumba Regency. Methods: This type of research used a descriptive method, the study population was all with hypertension in the Waingapu Health Center Work Area, a sample of 87 people. Results: Out of 87 people with hypertension, 49 people (56.3%) had good knowledge, 40 people (46%) had enough emotional, 50 people (57.5%) had good family practices and 80 people (92%) had good spirituality. Conclusion: Family support is needed in treating hypertension sufferers to help them solve their problems. Suggestion: it is hoped that the puskesmas will improve health promotion, especially prevention of hypertension. Keywords: Family, Family Support, Hypertension
