Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a non-communicable disease which is a very serious health problem today. Hypertension is a disease that causes high blood pressure where the systolic pressure is more than 140 mmHg and the diastolic pressure is more than 90 mmHg. Hypertension is a type of disease that is serious to treat. Hypertension is a risk factor that greatly influences the incidence of heart and blood vessel disease. One of the nursing problems caused by hypertension sufferers is pain. One treatment for hypertensive patients is to perform deep breathing relaxation techniques and progressive muscle relaxation. Objective: Reduce pain in hypertensive patients through deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation. Method: This research uses a case study method with an exploratory approach to deep breathing relaxation techniques and progressive muscle relaxation. Results: implementation of deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation techniques can reduce the pain scale in hypertensive patients. Conclusion: Deep breathing relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation have been proven to be effective in reducing the pain scale in hypertensive patients Keywords: Hypertension, acute pain, deep breathing relaxation, progressive muscle relaxation
